When we returned from our Texas Christmas trip, Nick noticed our water had a tint of yellow when we turned on the hot water and I noticed that the hot water would run out after about 10 minuets in the shower. Nick revealed to me that our hot water heater was going out. Turns out that the hot water heater we had in our home was from 1982. Nick quickly got to searching for the right water heater to install. Nick found a tank less water heater that would replace our old one. It took Nick about 3 evenings to take out the old water heater, replace the wiring, and install our new tank less water heater. Nick was excited to take out the giant water heater because it gave him more room to store his things in the laundry closet. I can happily say everything turned out great and I have not run out of hot water yet!

We have a ship in the living room??
We were so excited because we finally paid off our new dinning table! We got it from Rooms-To-Go and it had just the modern look we were looking for. It is truly a beautiful table but, unfortunately, the table is excessively BIG for our home. We tried everything to make the table fit. I think we spent a good hour moving our living room around. We ended up moving the table in front of the window and as soon as we stepped back we both said, “It looks like a giant ship crashed into our home”. It was then we had to surrender and return it. We were fortunate enough to return it and get our money back to purchase something a little more fitting for our home! :)

Are we still in Florida?
We have had a week of winter that has surprised everyone. The high has been in the low 40’s and the low has been in the mid 20’s. Yupe, it is cold in Florida right now. The other morning, there was frost on the ground and on our vehicles. We had to actually get a scraper out to clear our windows. All the white spots on the first picture are frost areas. It looked like someone had opened a bag of packaging peanuts and sprinkled them all over our front yard. Nick loves it and I have to admit I have been enjoying the change of weather too. :D

A special surprise!
Late last week, Nick and I went to watch a movie in celebration of my “last day of freedom” because the next morning was the beginning of the spring semester. When we got home Nick went to check on the chickens and upon entering our porch, he discovered a screech owl. The screech owl was full-grown and was about the size of my hand. Nick quickly got my attention and of course, I had to grab the camera. Without turning on any lights, we were able to get a couple of quick shots with the owl. It was the coolest thing I have ever seen! We left it alone and hoped it would somehow make our porch his little safe haven. Unfortunately, the next morning the owl was gone, but the time it spent with us was special.

Happy 2010!!
Wow! I can’t believe a new year has begun! Boy time is flying. For New Year’s we went to Chris and Erin’s home for a party. Nick made his favorite dish of cheesy potatoes with a layer of bacon. It was really good! The night was spent having fun, laughing, and watching the NYC ball drop. Happy New Years~
