Coral Con

We got to attend Coral Con in Orlando for Proaquatix, the company Nick is currently working for. It is an event that features lots of different aquarium type stuff for all the aquarium lovers and vendors. Coral Con turned out to be a success and as always, it was very interesting.

Color Me Rad

The Color Me Rad crew came to Vero Beach to host their colorful 5k. The way the run works is that you start the race in a nice clean white t-shirt and while you run, there are color stations that spray you or volunteers throw color bombs (colored cornstarch) at you. At the end of the race you are full of color! It is an awesome experience and our team had a lot of fun running. :)

Honey, jelly, and bees!

If you look closely you can see a bee pupa  (baby bee) looking right at the camera. Also, just below the pupa are cells filled with eggs. The yellow coverings are cells filled with bees ready to hatch. *** And on the lower right hand corner you can see the glisten of  delicious honey***

This is a picture showing queen cells that is growing a future queen bee.

This is a picture of the queen cell filled with a small queen surround by royal jelly. (Royal jelly is what makes a queen turn into a queen)

The bee's are growing in numbers so Nick moved a hive into their new home.

New Bees at the Sys'

We have a new colony of bees in our hive. The bees of grace we got in November were just to small to make it through "our" winter and left. Nick got the opportunity to acquire another swarm and so far they are doing well. Nick put in a feeder that has really helped this colony begin to establish themselves in our hive. Above is a picture of the bees drinking from the feeder. :)
