Modernizing our Kitchen!

We participated in the Florida Appliance Rebate and successfully purchased a new Whirlpool stainless dishwasher! We had been keeping an eye on the Appliance Rebate dates for Florida and knew if we were going to buy an energy efficient appliance we would need to do it during the event. We did our homework and were able to get this brand new dishwasher 40% off. We were able to get a rebate spot and mailed everything the government asked for ASAP, so hopefully we will get an extra 20% refund + $75 recycling refund on top of our tremendous savings. I am not sure when the other states are doing their Appliance Rebate Event, but if you are in the market for a new energy efficient dishwasher, refrigerator, washer/dryer, gas water heater, or freezer this is a great opportunity to buy/save.

R.I.P. Truck... hello Jeep!

It has always been my dream to have a yellow jeep. And that dream has come true! Yesterday, we traded my great truck of many many years and many many many miles for a 2004 yellow sport jeep. The jeep is in great condition and we got quite a deal on it too! Nick and I are sad to see our wonderful and very faithful truck no longer be with us, but we are excited to have a bright Floridan jeep to have fun with. :D

Still Truckin along...

We are so excited! We have completed the fence facing the south side. All we have left is the west side and we are DONE! Just having the south wall has already changed our backyard. Our chickens love it because they have more freedom when we let them graze. We work a little bit when we can and so far we are doing pretty well! :)

A fiesta!

Since my birthday fell in the middle of the week, Nick decided we needed to celebrate my birthday with a traditional fiesta that weekend! So we called our friends Erin, Chris, Dave, and Sara, decorated the house with some streamers and balloons and dressed up for a Fiesta! Everyone brought a mexican dish, and we provided some of Nick's homemade salsa and I made some mexican rice. Nick surprised me with a tres leches cake (my favorite)! He even had them write Feliz Cumpleanos Chula! (happy birthday day cutie). The fiesta was tons of fun and very educational because our friend Dave brought cranium to play! :)

Wendy turns 22!

We went to Fujiyama's for my birthday! Fujiyama's is a sushi/hibachi Japanese Steakhouse. It was a lot of fun and we had quite a number of friends attend. Nick and I splurged and ordered our very first sushi boat for 2! It comes with 28 pieces of sushi and rolls. It was absolutely delicious! I was even treated with some fried cheesecake -compliments of Fujiyama's. My birthday was a fabulous one thanks to all of our friends and families!Thank you for all your cards, phone calls, and flowers! :)

Our fence is here!

Yey! We got our fence/shed permits, concrete, shed stuff, and fence delivered last week! Thanks to the "first home buyers credit" we are able to renovate a couple of much needed things around our home. We are putting up our shed and we are going to be putting a privacy fence. We've already begun putting up our fence and successfully hung our very first panel. :)

Good times with friends!

We are so blessed to have a great marriage life group to attend. We have made some great friends to hang out with. This week we have been social butterflies and have had a great time hanging out with some of our friends. We had a delicious shrimp fry with our friends Brett and Paula (and their dog Ginger) and we got to spend a day fishing with our friend Tina. Our fishing day started off slow, but right when we were going to give up the fish started coming. We all caught a sea trout that was legal to keep, Nick caught a Sheep head, and we caught several Jacks, lady fish, and catfish. We ended our fishing day on a great note and went home with a nice pre-summer tan!

First step to gardening

Our seeds have arrived! We are very excited to begin our garden. We want to be able to grow the veggies we constantly buy at home because it will reduce our grocery bill by a lot. Produce down here in Florida is really expensive! We found a really neat seed company named Southern Exposure Seed Exchange that has organic heirloom seeds. We ordered over 35 different kinds of seeds! To name a few we got seeds to grow strawberries, lettuce, jalapenos, tomatoes, squash , and all kinds of herbs we use to cook with. Right now the seeds have been planted in little containers that are underneath florescent lights in our kitchen. Once the plants begin to sprout we will transfer them outside. Nick says it will be about 2 months before we can plant them outside.
