How to Plant a tree

We have been continually asked  how we are able to renovate our home ourselves. All I can say is that without my husband, I wouldn't know where to start. I realize that most people are like me and need a Nick to help guide them. So we've decided to begin making a few how to posts that you might find helpful. Below you will find the how to plant a tree guide that will hopefully help you with your tree planting endeavors. Happy Planting! :)

Step 1- find a tree you want to plant.

Step 2-Make a 3 ft. diameter around where you want your tree.

Step 3- Dig about a 2 foot hole

Step 4- add 3 bags of compost, 1 bag of peat moss, along with top soil

Step 5- Mix everything together and refill the hole

Step 6- fill the mixed area with lots of water

Step 7- Once the soil soaks most of the water dig out a hole as big as the tree container.

Step 8- Take the tree out of it's container.

Step 9- Plant the tree and cover it with remaining soil.

Step 10- Step back and admire your trees! :)

Apple Trees

This weekend we got a chance to focus on our front yard and we planted three apple trees. We are very excited for the progress we have made and look forward in making more progress next week! :)

 

Continuing the Transformation

Adding dirt to begin preparing our backyard with grass.

Leveled out the back yard. Now we had dirt instead of sand.

We put another flower bed in.  

Our walkway is coming along. All that is left to do is to plant flowers in the beds and start making our concrete pathway.

Here is our finished mini fence we started on my birthday.

This is what the rest of our yard looks like. Just a little pile of projects waiting to be done! :D

For my 24th birthday, I chose to enjoy some time outside continuing our backyard transformation. We had perfect outdoor weather as it was an overcast cool day. We started putting up the fence that will hide our water softener and trashcan. We worked hard all day, then got all dressed up to enjoy a very nice dinner at Carrabbas with the Fryauffs'. Thank you for all the wonderful birthday wishes that helped make my birthday a memorable one! :D

Easter 2012

We got the chance to spend Easter weekend with our Michigan family in Miami. We had a great weekend soaking up the sun and taking in the Miami culture. :)
