The plan is to be able to go out and set up crab traps and the next day go check them and have enough crab for a meal! In the state of Florida we are allowed to have 5 crab traps per person. We are hoping that this will help our odds. Right now we have blue floats that we got to spray paint in our front/back yard. We also have a cast net which helps us fish for mullet and other small fish for crab bait. It's been really fun learning how to throw a cast net! We have had lots of rainy days so, we are a little behind on bait, but, Nick built some bait molds that allow us to chop up mullet and freeze them to use later. The mold is made from 3 inch PVC and allows us to have a bait block which fits perfectly in the bait compartment of a crab trap. We have 5 molds so far! With the help of the Fishing Center, we are able to store our frozen bait in a huge walk in (15x18) freezer. Crab season is open all year so, we can start once we have traps!
